Obituary of Henry Peter Ferrentino

Please share a memory of Henry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Henry Peter Ferrentino, 93, of Rockaway, NJ, formerly of Montclair and Bloomfield, passed away at home on Sunday, June 15, 2025, following an arduous battle with cancer.

Henry was born to Ciro and Assunta (Barone) Ferrentino in July 1931. Their home was full of children and lots of love and they called him Hank amongst themselves. He graduated from Bloomfield High School and joined the U. S. Navy, honored to serve his country.

Life was always interesting for Henry. Wanting to learn how to swim, he trained to be a lifeguard. During this employment, he proudly saved 6 children from drowning at a pool. Henry was an actor, appearing in off Broadway shows and in a few movies. He was a print model featured in Esquire magazine. Henry also worked at Newark Airport as an airline mechanic. Later in life he became a residential superintendent in Montclair. Henry was what’s referred to as a renaissance man - a well-rounded individual gifted and skilled in many different areas.

In his spare time, he could be found scouting out garage sales, reading books, writing his own genre of fiction stories and playing the requisite Scrabble game whenever the family came over.

Henry was predeceased by his siblings, Mildred Primavera, Anna Brown, Pasquale Ferrentino, Jerry Ferrentino and Frank Paul Ferrentino; as well as his niece, Susan Angello. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Robert Brown (Suarni) and family; Elizabeth Hybl and children Frank, John Paul, Marguerite & Charlene; Gerald Ferrentino (Renee) and daughter Jacqueline; Susan Carlsen (Steven) and daughter Julie; Helen Wall (Steve) and children Kristen & Daniel; and Nicholas Ferrentino (Corie) and children Daniel & Erin.

A Memorial Service will be held in King of Kings Lutheran Church, Mountain Lakes on Saturday, August 30th at 11:00am. Arrangements were provided by Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton. To share condolences with the family, please visit CodeyMackeyFH.com.
