Obituary of Susan Margaret Haenchen
Susan Margaret Haenchen of Parsippany, NJ, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Atlantic Hospice in Morristown Medical Center. She was only 69 years old.
Born in East Orange, NJ to Joseph and Florence (Mason) George. She lived in the Vailsburg section of Newark, NJ until moving to the Parsippany-Troy Hills area in 1974.
Sue graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor Degree in Education and with her love for children taught first in the Irvington School and then in the Parsippany school system until retiring in 2016. Her love of children led her to volunteering in the MAP Tutoring Program at the Presbyterian Church on the Green in Morristown. At church she was also active in Circle Two.
Through mutual friends, she and her husband, Hans, met on an arranged date and were married in November of 1974. They shared a love of seeing new things when they traveled.
She loved fine hand sewing and belonged to the Smocking Arts Guild of America and The American Sewing Guild. Her creations, including Christening Gowns, found their way to the children of family members and friends.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Hans Haenchen; devoted daughter, Elizabeth M. Huntington; loving sister, Donna Moorhouse; also five nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Hans Joseph.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, July 19th from 4-8 PM at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ.
A Service will be held on Thursday, July 20th at 10:00 am in the funeral home.
