Thelma Evans Ply, 98, of Boonton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Merry Heart of Boonton Twp., NJ. Born in Jersey City to James Evans and Victoria Crane, Thelma was raised in Lincoln Park, NJ. She graduated from Boonton H.S. and met her husband, the late George Ply at Newbury 5 & 10 on Main St. in Boonton. She and George married and made Boonton their home. Thelma was a bookkeeper working at various companies including E.F. Drew / PVO in Boonton for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time in her garden tending to her plants or caring for her stamp and doll collection. She was predeceased by her husband, George and brother, James Evans. Surviving are her son, Richard Ply; grandchildren, Laurie Russell and Christopher Ply; great grandchildren, Alexa, Aaralyn, Ethan and Allyson; a sister, Roberta VanderNaald and sister-in-law, Louise Evans. A funeral service will be held at the Codey & Mackey Funeral Home, 107 Essex Avenue, Boonton, NJ on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00am. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday from 10-11am before the service. The interment will follow at The Reformed Church Cemetery of Pompton Plains, NJ.
